Home prices in Dallas/Ft. Worth Area
Written by billbam on June 18, 2009 – 11:31 am -One thing we have been very fortunate about in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is that house prices have not dropped as much as the nation as a whole. Although sales of pre-owned homes has been greatly affected the actual price drop on the sales that are happening has only been about 3.8% to 4.4% depending on which report you read. Texas A&M University’s Real Estate Center reports indicate that only 6000 pre-owned single-family homes sold in May 2009, which was the lowest since the year 2000. Since the beginning of the year pre-owned single-family home sales in the Metroplex have dropped by 24% from the same time frame last year. Many feel the market is at or near the bottom, with the average home price at about $139,500.
One unfortunately cause-and-affect of the current market conditions is foreclosures. I am sure everyone is aware that foreclosures are through the roof nationwide. If you are looking at purchasing in the North Texas area you might consider purchasing one of these foreclosures homes for value. Government Auctions & Foreclosures is a great site for finding hundreds of value deals in this area and around the country. If you have a few minutes click the link and take a look, it only takes seconds to see what kind of deals are available.
Thanks for reading and happy home buying!
